"Twilight Singers Reveal Details of Covers Album

Erstwhile Afghan Whigs frontman Greg Dulli has, after more than a year's gestation, finally released details of his Twilight Singers' forthcoming covers record, She Loves You. The album, which is curiously lacking the titular Beatles track (perhaps due to its close association with the Whigs' 1965 tour setlists), will be released on August 24th via One Little Indian Records. As previously reported, the record will see the work of artists such as Björk, Fleetwood Mac, Mary J. Blige, John Coltrane, and Marvin Gaye filtered through Greg Dulli's own black lungs. Additionally, the record features contributions from ex-Screaming Tree Mark Lanegan, former Prince collaborator Patricia "Apollonia" Kotero, and Cypress Hill DJ Muggs. And since we all know that imitation is the sincerest form of ass-rocking, you should really take a look at this tracklist:

01 Feeling of Gaze (Hope Sandoval)
02 Too Tough To Die (Martina Topley-Bird)
03 Hyperballad (Björk)
04 Strange Fruit (Billie Holiday)
05 What Makes You Think You're The One (Fleetwood Mac)
06 Real Love (Mary J. Blige)
07 Hard Time Killin Floor (Skip James)
08 A Love Supreme (John Coltrane)
09 Please Stay (Once You Go Away) (Marvin Gaye)
10 Black Is the Color of My True Love's Hair (Traditional)
11 Summertime (George Gershwin)

In other Dulli news, his work with Lanegan on side project The Gutter Twins is on indefinite hiatus. However, in somewhat unexpected but really fucking cool news, Dulli told Pitchfork he's already at work on the next Twilight Singers record, which he describes as "the most ambitious recording" the band has attempted. Dulli says that the recording is advancing smoothly: "[Drummer] Bobby Macintyre and I are cutting almost everything in my little Mansion on the hill and we haven't hit each other once. We have given ourselves a deadline of December 1st to complete this recording and I'm already plotting the artwork."

The Twilight Singers are also playing a fun-sized tour of Europe in August. An October schlep across the Northern U.S. is reportedly set to follow, but... well, you know how these things go. For now:

08-18 London, England - Scala
08-19 Leicester, England - Charlotte
08-20 Belgium, Netherlands - Pukkelpop
08-21 Utrecht, Germany - Tivoli
08-22 Hamburg, Germany - Motolov" (fonte:
